Acorn Bank
Times: 2 Trampers Available. 2hr sessions at 11am, 11:30am, 1:30pm and 2pm
Distance: 3.5km
Gradient: Occasional steep gradients, gravel and grass surfaces. Three point turns required at turning points.
Acorn Bank is a beautiful historic house, garden and estate in the Eden Valley. As well as the house you can discover the partially restored watermill, enjoy wildlife in the woods on the way, and find out more about the history of gypsum mining on the estate. There is the walled garden, and cafe plus lovely views across the Eden Valley to the Lake District.
Working together with North Pennines National Landscape, who have provided funding, Acorn Bank can provide two Trampers to explore the grounds.
The Route: The woodland and estate can be explored on the assessed route. Giving access to the Mill, Quarry and Hide with the Tramper. At each of these end points a three-point turn is required to turn the Tramper.
The formal gardens, cafe and front of the house can also be accessed with some narrow paths that need to be taken at slow speed.
Members must be accompanied on the route by another person during the Tramper hire session, due to limited or no mobile signal.
All Tramper users must stay on the designated Tramper route path.
National Trust admission charges apply (admission free to National Trust members).
